Many hostels are ideally located as a stopover on a cycling route or for mountain biking trails, many provide specialist facilities and information but all provide a little bit of that Scottish hospitality and a rest from roughing it.

Since 1931, we have welcomed visitors from all over the world, providing affordable, welcoming accommodation in some of the best locations across Scotland. Scottish Independent Hostels (SIH) is a Membership Association of independently owned Hostels in Scotland. It is the largest Hostel network of its type in the world, with 130 Hostels located from Scotland’s Highlands and Islands to the vibrant cities of Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, Aberdeen and Inverness within its membership. Each one of our Hostels is unique, providing hospitality from independent owners that is excellent value. The description “Hostel” includes Backpackers, Bothies, Bunkhouse, Group Accommodation and Activity Accommodation and, yes, Hostels!
